Dhaka-Chittagong highway is one of the busiest and the most important highway in Bangladesh. It takes usually 6 hours with a halt halfway by bus if there is no traffic congestion. The air condition bus service has been providing a quality service to the commuters, though not free of drawbacks. Though there is train service, bus route is a popular route for this trip. It can be a good experience it there is no intolerable jam on the way. There is a halt almost halfway somewhere in Chaddagram near Comilla. This halt is relaxing and a slight refreshment is not a good idea. On the way, especially after the bus gets out the city area, the scenic beauty of Bangladesh is on display on both sides of the street. In few places the street is cover with the branches of trees providing a shade on the street.
During winter at night and it the morning it is usually foggy and poor visibility does not often let passengers see distant things well, but at day time the trip offers an awesome view of countryside.
During monsoon the canals, ponds and marshy lands are full to the brim with rain water. People often try their luck with fish in the water. It is not unusual to spot boats here and there. Green hills of Sitakundu can be spotted in the distance along with the green vegetation next to the road. It is nice to see the bumper harvest, since it gives a hint that food price will go down. Before the destination the bus guide lets the passengers know how far the bus is and how long it might take. From that point starts the eager waiting and whatever the destination is, the passengers are happy to get there.
